This is a family portrait from back in October. They were a lot of fun. I was really wanting to show a relaxed close family pose and do something different for me. I think we got it. They look great and the kids were awesome. Camera/Image Specs: Canon EOS 5 D MKII, 24-105 f4.0 L, ISO 400, 1/100. Fill flash on camera, off camera flash- Quantum Trio 1/16 power, shoot through umbrella from camera right.

Last Saturday we were fortunate to photograph Brandon and Courtney’s wedding in Felicity, OH. They are a great couple and their wedding party and family were great to work with. Here are a few of her bridal portraits. The link to her whole session is here.

A few weeks ago I took these images of Austin. He is two and has a lot of energy. We photograph the traditional posed smiling images as well as these candid style and fun images. These were taken while he was running toward me. He only did it once but we got it. Enjoy!

I often get asked, “What camera should I buy?” I usually answer, “It depends.” There are so many factors that there are to consider.
I will tell you about what I do and then make some recommendations. I am a Canon shooter. I like Nikon. I learned digital on Nikon and had great results. I chose Canon because when it came time to buy some new cameras I tested all of the top of the line cameras and tested them side by side and got the best results from Canon. I will address lenses in the next section. One thing I always tell anyone who asks me what camera they should buy is no matter which one you end up with- read the manual! The whole thing, not just the parts that tell you how to push the shutter. You will learn that the camera can do so much more that you even thought it could. Also get one you will actually use. I mean get one that will do what you need. Do you need to be able to point and shoot all of the time or do you want to be able to shoot manually sometimes. Do you want to take video as well? Do you want to let your kids use it? Do you want something that can really zoom in? Shorter shutter lag (Shutter lag is the time it takes once you press the shutter release and the camera takes the picture) ?
Once you know the answers to these questions then you should look at cameras. While you are looking at the cameras you should consider- Are the buttons the right size for my fingers? Is the body too large or too small? Does it feel good in my hand? A lot of people want to get a camera that has a wide range of zoom capability. They think this makes a good camera. They are wrong. You will not use that feature as often as you think. Cameras in general are getting better and better and it is getting hard to buy a bad camera. Look at the features you want and get the best one you can afford. I hope this helps. Send me an email if you have any specific questions.

Last Saturday we were fortunate enough to have two weddings. You can find the images online here. Also you will find that the password has been removed from the Mardis Bridal Portraits in the online gallery. If the galleries are not there yet keep checking back, they will be there soon. The first two images are from the Harville-Mardis Wedding and the second image is from the Morgan-Mehta Wedding.
As you can tell we have a new look to our blog and I hope this one will be better to maintain for our followers. Thank you for checking us out. Here are a few images from our Saturday weddings.
